Office of Academic Success

The Office of Academic Success is dedicated to providing exemplary services to assist all students to achieve academic and intellectual excellence in the liberal arts, sciences, and professional programs, from their initial transition to college through their progress to post-graduate studies and professional careers.

Programs and services offered within our Office of Academic Success include:

  • Academic Support Services – Provides students free academic support for all part-time and full-time Wilkes students including counseling, coaching, workshops, peer tutoring and more!
  • Act 101 Program – A special program for students from Pennsylvania who need academic and financial support, this program allows underprepared students to improve their skills in verbal and written communication, reading comprehension, mathematics, and problem solving to enhance their potential for success. The program provides for tutoring and counseling to enhance the student’s potential for success in the college environment.
  • Advising Services – Advisors assist with the decision-making process from the time students arrive for their first classes through to graduation and beyond.
  • Disability Support Services – Provides support and accommodations for self-identified students with documented disabilities including learning disabilities, mobility issues, and visual or hearing impairments, just to name a few.
  • Undeclared Majors – At Wilkes, you’re not required to declare a major until prior to the first semester of your junior year. We can help guide you to your decision, and will keep you on track to graduate in four years.

Colonels are Covered Program

Required undergraduate textbooks and course materials are paid for and will be ready prior to the first day of class. All students have to do is return them once the semester concludes. Wilkes is proud to be one of only three schools in Pennsylvania, and 80 nationally, to offer this program. The Colonels Are Covered program is offered in partnership with Barnes & Noble’s First Day Complete®. All new and current, full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate students are automatically enrolled.

Colonels Are Covered not only saves you money and work; it helps you become a better student, too. This is just one way that we work to make a student’s college experience as successful and stress-free as possible. And, since books can be expensive, one less thing to pay for, too. In fact, our math shows this can save you up to $1,600 per year.

Colonel’s Cupboard

Colonel’s Cupboard:
The Colonel’s Cupboard is a community pantry available to any students who may be in need of extra assistance. We have food, personal care and household care items available.

Health and Wellness Services

The Wilkes University Health and Wellness Services office provides routine healthcare for full- and part-time students (undergraduate and graduate) both on and off campus. It is staffed by a Certified Nurse Practitioner and a Registered Nurse, with a physician available on various mornings. Our mission is to provide healthcare, education and advocacy to improve the well-being of our students. Referrals are made to specialists as deemed necessary.”
