The Momentum Program
The Momentum Program assists first-generation and Pell Grant-eligible students to succeed academically, socially, and professionally at Elizabethtown College. Research shows that many first-generation students – those whose parents did not graduate from a four-year college or university – experience unique obstacles and challenges during their college experience. The same is true for many students who qualify for a Pell Grant as part of their Financial Aid award.
Momentum strives to close this gap by providing one-on-one support to ease the college transition process. Momentum students arrive to campus early to engage in community-building and capacity-building events. By the time Momentum students begin classes, they are already part of a community that is committed to supporting their success at Etown.
First-generation and Pell-eligible students belong at Etown College. They are as capable of succeeding at college as any of their peers, and bring a wide array of perspectives and backgrounds that are celebrated here. The Momentum Program creates a space where first-generation and Pell-eligible students can find support, celebrate their successes, and cultivate a sense of belonging at Etown.
